Three Foods to Naturally Increase Your Libido

Low libido is a common problem.

In fact, nearly a third of women and 15% of men reported a lack of sexual desire for several months during the previous year.

So, if it’s something you or your partner is struggling with, you’re not alone. 

Today I want to talk about how libido is linked to your overall health, how you can increase libido naturally… and get back to business.

It's All About Your Hormones

Fertility and libido issues are one of the first signs that something’s not right in your body.

Libido is directly affected by your hormones.

And since hormones are your body’s message system that controls all your functions… they’re essential to pretty much everything.

If you’ve ever experienced messed up hormones, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about.

Hormone imbalances can affect nearly any part of your body, from your mood and emotions to your weight and fertility.

So, for the sake of your overall health (not just your libido), it’s a good idea to make sure your hormones are in balance.

What Messes with Your Hormones?

Research shows that some of the common causes for hormone problems are:

• Pesticides
• Herbicides
• Plasticisers

These three types of chemicals block hormone receptors on our cells, causing a whole heap of issues, including low libido.

So, by eating certain foods and using chemical products (like certain perfumes, colognes, deodorants, shampoos, and conditioners), we’re exposing ourselves to pesticides and herbicides that can disrupt our hormones.

It’s no wonder so many people struggle with their libido.

Fortunately, there are ways you can detox from these chemicals and avoid them.

I won’t go any deeper into that here (I’ll save that for another blog) but what I really want to do is share about three key foods that can help to clean your hormone receptor sites inside your body and act as natural libido enhancers.

Libido Booster #1: Figs

Figs look a bit like testicles on the outside (yes, really!). And if you open them up, the seeds on the inside look a bit like sperm.

Funnily enough, studies have shown that figs are an excellent natural way to increase libido (for both men and women despite the more masculine resemblance).

How does it work?

Author and doctor, Brian Clement has written about figs and has proven that when you eat three figs, it can naturally enhance your pheromones.

Pheromones are these amazing chemicals that you give off that help to boost libido in yourself and the people around you.

So, if you or your partner want increased libido, eat figs!

Libido Booster #2: Roots

Australians have an expression “having a root”, which refers to going to the bedroom together and getting it on.

It’s a fitting expression though, because many roots naturally enhance our libido when we consume them.

Some of these roots include:

• Turmeric root
• Ginger root
• Ginseng

Ginger cleans plaque out of the arteries and enhances circulation, which is a major factor in enhancing libido.

And of course, they enhance very specific hormones that get us excited.

So, have a root. 😉

Libido Booster #3: Bananas

I couldn’t even make this up if I tried.

Let’s just say that nature has a sense of humour, because our final libido-boosting food is bananas.

Bananas contain something called bromelain which helps to increase libido.

Bananas are also an excellent source of B vitamins (including riboflavin) which increase energy and are essential to balancing your hormones.

So, turn that frown upside down. Get some more bananas into your diet!

Other Ways to Boost Your Libido

Eating the right foods will go a long way in helping you enhance your libido.

But you can also give yourself a boost by:

• Drinking plenty of water
• Avoiding processed foods, caffeine, and alcohol
• Using certain essential oils
• Moving your body every day
