Healthy and Delicious Alternatives to Coffee

If you want to give up coffee but you’re struggling, most of the time it’s because you’re really addicted to that natural hit from the caffeine. You’re actually chemically addicted to it, and any type of chemical addiction is going to be detrimental to your health.

To wean yourself off coffee, it can be helpful to move to another form of caffeine but having a little bit less. Something like black tea or chai tea.

Chai Tea

Chai tea still has caffeine, so you’re still going to get a bit of a boost and an energy hit.

The chai tea also typically has things like cloves and other spices, which can balance blood sugar, clean out parasites from the body and do all kinds of things that are really good for longevity. For most people, chai tea is also not as addictive as coffee.

After 4-5 days of having chai teas instead of coffee, you will have broken your coffee habit. You’ll find it much easier to stop drinking chai tea or other caffeinated drinks completely.

Alternatively, you could switch to something like green tea, which is high in antioxidants and has been implicated for longevity as well.

Roasted Dandelion Coffee

Now if you drink coffee because you just like the taste, there’s actually something called roasted dandelion coffee that has a similar taste. It’s made from the dandelion root.

The really cool thing about dandelion root is it’s been written about on PubMed and in other medical journals and has actual science showing it causes cancer cell death (called apoptosis) inside of the body. So drinking dandelion root coffee can be a really healthy alternative to drinking regular coffee.

For those of you who just don’t like coffee whatsoever but really want the energy hit, that’s where I’m going to recommend you try black tea or green tea. If you’ve never had caffeine before and you just drink green tea, it will give you that bit of a boost!

There’s also something called matcha tea that is quite popular. It can give you a really nice buzz and can help get you moving during the day.

Golden Milk

Another really great alternative that has a HEAP of health benefits is Golden Milk.  It’s also often called Turmeric Milk Latte and the turmeric is what gives it that golden colour.

Golden Milk is a traditional Indian drink that has been enjoyed for centuries and is used in Ayurvedic Medicine as a remedy for colds. It’s made from turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, black pepper and a sweetener mixed into non-dairy milk.

Ginger, cinnamon and turmeric all contain amazing antioxidants and turmeric is well known for its anti-inflammatory properties. Turmeric also helps the body repair cell damage and stimulates new cell growth so is often found in anti-aging products. The curcumin in turmeric supports serotonin levels in the brain which improves sleep and also helps reduce anxiety.

Golden Milk is tasty, easy to make and with all these great health benefits, it will be a valuable addition to your day!

The Best Energy Boost There Is

The last tip I’m going to share is from the longest-lived cultures on the planet, and probably the best way to boost your health and give you more energy. I’m talking about places like the high mountains of Abkhazia, Okinawa and other places around the world where people live a long time.

This simple little thing is going to boost your immune system, give you energy and kickstart your metabolism every single day – but it’s also going to really suck the first four or five times you do it.

What is it?

It’s ice-cold water.

These long-lived cultures wake up every morning, go down to the river and jump in the water. It’s ice cold because it’s literally glaciers that are melting. It sparks their immune system, reduces inflammation, kicks up their metabolism, and it could be one of the reasons why these cultures are living for so long.

So what can you do? You can jump in an ice bath. Run a bath of cold water, put ice in the water and jump in it. You’re immediately awake, your adrenaline’s pumping, you’ve got energy and you’re doing all these beautiful things for your health.

Or you can get into a shower of warm or hot water first, get used to the water, and then – bang – hit it all the way over to cold and that ice cold water is really going to spark your immune system, get your metabolism going and give you heaps of energy for the day.
