Seeds And Grains | Why They Are Vital For Our Health

I’m sure you’re all familiar with the grain-bashing that goes on in the media. So-called “health experts” often give one of the Earth’s most important gifts a bad rap, and if you believe anything they have to say, then apparently wheat is the devil.

I’m sorry, but that’s just not the case!

Seeds and grains are vital for our bodies to function. Having dedicated my life to health, I’ve learned plenty of important things, and one of them may shock you: not all grains are created equal!

There was a grain called kamut which is a type of ancient wheat. It was used by the Egyptians. They cultivated and ate this grain as part of their daily life for thousands of years. It was rediscovered not that many years ago when a tomb in Egypt was opened and they found 26 little grains of kamut. They took those 26 grains back to Montana and propagated them and now you can buy it from lots of places. I believe that kamut is the most unadulterated form of grain there is!

But what about allergies?

I believe that people who experience allergic reactions to certain grains, such as wheat, are most likely getting these reactions due to present-day processing conditions, rather than the actual grains themselves. Due to high demand, producers of grains such as wheat are forced to yield massive quantities in advance, so that there are no shortages.

To keep costs low, it’s in the financial interests of producers to ensure their stock doesn’t spoil, and to ensure it doesn’t spoil they’re often guilty of spraying their grains with everything from aluminium to fluoride – chemicals which can cause allergic reactions in the human body, such as an inflamed digestive system.

Due to the high level of processed grains in the modern day diet, some people get to the point where they can’t even handle a little bit of grain because their body has an overload of these chemicals. If they eat even a small amount of grain or wheat that has it on it, it results in an immediate inflammation reaction causing major problems.

Now this is my opinion based on the research I have done. What the mass media would like you to believe is that it’s the gluten contained within the wheat that is causing all these adverse reactions. Well I don’t believe that is always true.

Could it actually be a part of it? Maybe. But the thing you have to understand is that the gluten is actually just the protein that is house within the grain. And I believe that this protein is an amazing source of protein and amino acids which is GREAT for building muscles.

Didn't ancient cultures eat an abundance of grains?

If you look back thousands of years to the Ancient Greeks, the Roman Empire and the Egyptians, they all used a huge variety of grains abundantly. These were easy to grow in large crops and they could then store them and that’s how they survived through winter. I believe these cultures were brilliant, strong and very healthy and never had any of these modern day issues!

Centuries ago, grains were so highly regarded that they were the primary food source of the feared gladiators – massive men who battled to the death! These gladiators were called “Barley Men” because they mainly consumed barley due to the amount of protein it contains. Eating a good amount of protein in your diet, lifting weights and getting out into the sun is what makes you strong and builds muscle! If you want to receive the same clean goodness that they did, then you need to do your homework and ensure that the brands you are purchasing are strictly organic.

Never touch anything that has been genetically modified!

If you don’t have access to organic grains, or find them cost-prohibitive, then there are ways to clean your grains before eating them which will help you wash away the nasties! Such as washing them with apple cider vinegar. You can also soak them to allow them to germinate and sprout. They don’t have to fully sprout, just soak them for 24 hours and then rinse them a couple of times a day until a little root pops out.

There’s a huge amount of energy, protein and fibre in sprouted grains and I believe they should be one of the staples in our diet!

There’s a bread called “Essene Bread” that is made from sprouted grains and just one thin slice with some avocado and tomato is very filling! There’s so much nutrition packed into it so it’s very healing.

In fact, I believe that people who have coeliac disease or gluten intolerance could use sprouted grains to actually help them heal from the damage caused by a lot of these pesticides and other chemicals that are on the grains. So maybe give it a try!
