Water | The Second Principle of Health

Water is one of the most important things on the planet. The planet is made up of about 70% of it. We’re made up of about 70% of it. Most of the water is salty, just like the oceans. Most of the water inside us is salty.

Something you can do to help with hydrating your body is add a pinch of salt to your water. Believe it or not, salt contains a lot of minerals in the form of sea salt, Celtic salt and Himalayan salt. Salts like these have a lot of little minerals in them that light up our nervous system and that helps us to hydrate.

The water outside of our cells is about the same as ocean water, which is why when you pee, sweat or cry, it’s salty. We’re constantly eliminating salts so it makes sense that we need to put it back in. And yes, you can get sodium from foods; greens and vegetables. Especially celery, it’s very high in sodium and I highly recommend it. Good salt helps us to hydrate. Salt also kills bad bacteria and infections inside the body.

Thinking about hydrating and salt, the reason salt has always been looked at in a negative way is because when you take salt, the body will hold onto the water that we have. So you will become dehydrated by using salt, if you don’t drink enough water.

There is a water scientist by the name of Dr. Batmangheligj, an Iranian scientist. He wrote a book called, ‘You’re Not Sick, You’re Thirsty’. He said the number one reaction of being thirsty is not a thirst-response, it’s hunger.

So, most of the time when you feel hungry, you are actually thirsty. It’s your body’s way of trying to tell you that it wants more water. If you just drink a litre of water, your hunger will go away because you were actually thirsty.

If people became aware of this and just started hydrating…

Add a bit of salt to your water, it has a lot of electrolytes. It lights up your tree, it gives you energy, mental clarity, prevents disease and sickness.

Dr. Batmangheligj also says that most pain people experience is chronic dehydration. So if you have tendonitis, back pain or other random pains that are not from injuries, it’s because the discs between your spine (or other joints) that are hydrated are becoming dehydrated. They lose the cushioning and start pinching the nerves, causing these pains. It’s actually dehydration and an accumulation of acids within the body.

Every cell of our body makes energy and releases an acid by-product. Scientifically, it’s called cellular respiration. These acids will tend to follow gravity to your feet and legs and it’s the hydration and movement that allows the lymphatic system to clean all this out.

Water is the number 1 agent that you can use, it’s called the universal solvent, that helps…

So many good things come from water and yet we forget to drink it. Having a system around it is one of the most important things we can do for our health! So drink more water. And measure it.

Dr. Batmangheligj, after all his scientific research, said to drink 1 litre of water per 22kgs of body weight per day

I weigh about 80kgs, that’s 4 litres of water a day. And that is at a resting state. So if I exercise and I’m sweating or have a sauna or do anything strenuous, I might need to add 500ml or a litre to that. I drink a daily measurement of 4 litres of water a day minimum, sometimes 5 or 6 and it’s why I feel so good. My digestive system works, everything operates smoothly and I have no pain in my body. Other than injuries.

There are two things to consider: the amount of water you are drinking and the kind of water you’re drinking.

We need to make sure we are getting rid of chlorine. Chlorine kills all bacteria. Your digestive system is composed of bacteria, so if you drink tap water or tea or coffee, any type of thing with chlorine in it, you’re destroying your gut flora.

We also need to be very aware not to drink fluoride. Fluoride was used pre-1900s as a pesticide on crops. And without getting into the details of fluoride, there’s a lot of science showing us that it prevents repair enzymes in our cells used to repair the DNA. And when we can’t repair the DNA we age faster. Not only that, if the DNA is getting broken down and can’t repair and the cell replicates, that’s the definition of cancer.

So the kind of water you drink is really important. I highly recommend distilled water because it gets rid of all the bad stuff. If you want to add minerals, just pop a pinch of salt in your water. You may want to get a reverse osmosis system or any type of really good filter that gets rid of fluoride and chlorine, it’s absolutely essential to have optimal health.

To recap:

1. Drink 1 litre of water for every 22kgs of body weight per day.

2. Make sure you have a filter so that you are drinking clean water. Use that clean water for your coffee and tea.

Hydrate yourself and you’ll find yourself moving into better health.

Top Tip from a Tolman Health Coach

“Put a straw in it. If you struggle to drink water, take note of what they do at the bars. They put straws in everything. You’ll drink faster through a straw. The thicker the straw, the faster you drink. And it’s a lot easier to drink when you have a straw in.”
