This is an education only event, thus we do not provide accommodation, airport transfer, or sustenance during this program. This program is packed full of information and learning and to ensure that your brain has plenty of energy for taking in and retaining the information we please ask that you do not fast during this program. You will have time to find amazing food nearby during your breaks.
We ask you to fill this out so that we have all your details on hand. We especially ask of you to make sure to include your shipping address in this form to where you would like us to send your THAC Welcome Pack. The Tolman Health Academy is always held in a luxurious beach side paradise in Bali.
The Venue for the November 2023 event will be held at Prama Sanur Beach Hotel Bali.
There are LOTS of villas and hotels available in Bali and it really depends on your personal budget. Google will be your best friend for discovering the right place for you. We also recommend looking at www.airbnb.com, www.agoda.com or www.bookings.com.
Generally, the longer you wait the more expensive flights get. Make sure you know what date check in and check out as well as the start and finish times are for your event before you book your flights.
This is your Tyler Tolman Bali travel guide, with everything you need to know to prepare for your trip, including making sure your passport has more than 6 months on it, what you need to know about getting a visa, money and currency, what to pack, unlocking your phone, and what to do when you land in Bali.
Indonesia does not allow people to come into the country without having more than 6 months left before their passport expires. Please check this as soon as possible as it can take some time to get a new passport.
For more information about getting a passport see www.passports.gov.au.
It is best to check with your local Indonesian Embassy as to what Visa Requirements you need for your nationality. New Zealand, UK, US and Australians visiting Indonesia are required to pay for a Visa On Arrival, for a 30 day Tourist Visa On Arrival. You will need to pay approximately $35 USD / or approximately $46 AUD.
Please carefully count the days you will be in the country, including the day you arrive. If you overstay, the cost will be IDR 300,000 a day, if you don’t extend it.
If you would like to extend your stay, you will then be required to visit an immigration office 10 days before your 30 days are over, for your photo and fingerprints to be taken. We highly suggest obtaining your visa in your home country before departure as this option can take about 2- 3 hours and is not a pleasant experience. We rather you take it easy, relax and spend more time out in the sunshine.
Alternatively you can obtain a 60 Day Tourist Visa prior to your arrival in Indonesia. This can be issued at your local Indonesian Consulate and takes approximately 5-7 working days to process and costs approx. $60 AUD. If there is no local consulate in your area please see a Travel Agent to assist in the visa process or for Australians go to www.visasdirect.com.au (agent fees will apply).
We recommend you purchase fully comprehensive travel insurance and that you research & understand what you are/aren’t covered for. It is best that you obtain insurance at the same time you make the first payment towards your trip so that you are covered from that point forward as per the policy terms & conditions.
For Australian residents a great travel insurance company is www.covermore.com.au or please contact your local travel agent.
With your ATM cards, please tell your bank you are going overseas so they open up Indonesia on your account. Otherwise you might get here and they freeze your account thinking your card has been stolen.
Another idea is to obtain a PrePaid Visa or Mastercards which you can purchase at Australia Post, Woolworths, Coles Myer or online.
Alternatively you can obtain a travel card with your bank institution, or your airline may have something similar such as a Virgin Card or Qantas Cash. This keeps your money separate from your own bank account. Plus you will have a second back up card to keep separate if one is swallowed in a machine. An example of these cards are here: www.cashpassport.com
One of the best ways to bring money is also to bring cash as it is much easier to change over here. There is an ATM at the airport just after you go through Customs.
Bali’s climate is tropical, so please pack lightly.
We suggest you bring:
Smart, casual, comfortable clothing (for walking, light exercise & workshop sessions etc), swimmers, a hat, walking shoes and thongs (these may get wet), backpack or bag when we go on our celebration adventure. A light rain jacket for showers in the wet seasons is handy. Also a light jumper to keep you warm when in session as the air conditioning can be very cold in the room.
HOT TIP! Add fragile stickers to your bag so your luggage comes through first!
Make sure you tell your phone company you are going overseas. It is recommended to have international roaming switched OFF so you don’t get charged large amounts, however if you feel comfortable to have it on as a backup to use in case of an emergency, this is a good idea.
International roaming can get expensive and it is far cheaper to get your phone unlocked and buy a local sim card to put into your phone. These cost approx 50,000Rp ($5) with approx 100,000Rp ($10) of credit which can last an entire month.
There is an awesome free app we use called WhatsApp that you can download to your smart phone and set up prior to departure.
This is how we like to communicate between us all as a team. This means that we can all be kept in the loop of things you may need or if someone is not feeling great etc, and we don’t have to rely on the Bali SMS network. WhatsApp works from wifi and 3/4G so we are covering all bases.
